Singapore Laboratory for Integrative Microbial Ecology
S.L.I.M.E. is the microbial ecology research lab of Dr. Federico Lauro. We are interested in all aspects of microbial ecology, specifically with regards to the diverse marine ecology of the Indian ocean. We study environmental genomics, ecological connectivity and adaptive responses of marine microbiomes . We are striving to improve our knowledge of which microbes are actively contributing to this environment by developing improved technologies for taxonomic resolution and preservation of viable microbial communities upon collection.
S.L.I.M.E. currently resides on the NTU campus as part of the Asian School of the Environments and SCELSE, an interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE) who is hosted by the NTU in partnership with NUS.
